My Art. All and None. 03/2010
She and I,
All and none.
I painted this years ago with only two women in mind. The third one was more of an accident, a beautiful one at that. Not everyone sees her though and that really just makes this painting more meaningful for me.
All the women here represent the same woman, me. One’s in the forest to speak of being lost and trying understand one’s purpose in life. The second woman is out of it, waiting, steadily and patiently knowing one day she’ll find her way back to her or even eventually find her purpose, her ultimate goal in life.
The third one, the mysterious lady with the black wings, is a message I didn’t intend to paint but still, to this very day, gives me goosebumps whenever I think about. She is facing the other woman in the forest watching over her, just looking and again, waiting.
I chose to call this painting All and None because at that point of my life, I was still asking questions but not finding answers. Everything was a mystery and all I wanted was to find myself and to find my answers.
It’s probably one of the most meaningful paintings for me as it will forever represent what we always go through life, our quest to understand ourselves, our quest to find meaning in our lives.
