How to Plan a Trip + Free Travel Itinerary Template

  1. Book a flight, on a Tuesday, 50-100 days before your trip.

  3. Research about your destination. Google is your friend.
    • take note of significant details and recommendations on accommodation, must-go, must-try experiences. List these details in the itinerary template that may be downloaded below.

  5. Create a short list out of the recommendations pulled out from the research according to your interest, intention, and preference.

  7. Arrange the places of interest according to geography. Put one place after the nearest place to it.

  9. Line up your destinations per day in the itinerary template taking note of:
    • opening and closing hours
    • peak times for tourists (as much as possible, avoid this)
    • transportation hours

  11. Plot out the following mundane details in the itinerary template:
    • preparation and bath hours
    • meal time
    • rest
    • travel time to and from the airport
    • flight hours

  13. Book the following details from the shortlist created out of your research:
    • accommodation
    • transpo tickets, rental, reservations
    • tickets to museums, events (if advance booking is necessary)

  14. Plan what to pack. Make a list of what to wear, items to bring according to your activities in the itinerary.
  15. Print your tickets or secure the soft copies in your smart phone or tablets. Prepare a photocopy (or two) of your passport and IDs in cases of baggage loss.
  16. Prepare cash based on the total amount resulting in the items in the itinerary. Notify your bank when going for an international trip. Free up you credit card.
  17. Check in online and save time lining up.
  18. ENJOY. GET LOST. COME HOME CHANGED.
